During the extended weekend of 15th – 17th September 2017, a digital nomad workshop was held in the premises of the Central Art School in Trencin. Students from the Central Art School Trenčín and from Ludovít Štúr School in Trenčín met together for the first time on Friday, September 15 at 9:00. The workshop was successfully launched by Pavol Paulenda from the Triad Advertising advertising agency. After learning each other, Pavol Paulenda went on to the first pages of the presentation where he introduced students to the world of contemporary and modern advertising. In the first part they learned all about the brand. Since the workshop program was set up to interconnect the theoretical and practical part, the students immediately went to work. Student’s brand in each school is made up of the Student Council, so it should define and determine what the students’ board means and what is its role.

A good lunch followed an introduction to the creative process. Students have learned how a creative process works in an advertising agency. Pavol Paulenda showed them the individual team members at Triad Advertising and their specific tasks. After completing the lecture they started their own creative process. They identified what the Student Council product is, where presentations are presented and how they can improve.

On Saturday, September 16th, the workshop began with demonstrations of successful modern advertising campaigns. He pointed to the differences between advertising in the US and the European market. Students were able to see not only the ad result, but the whole process from the creative process to the campaign evaluation. After completing this section, they focused on social networks and their use. They have learned not only how social networks can benefit in their own benefit, but also how social networks work. At the same time, they learned about which social network is the most suitable video and for which image format. Students have seen how paid advertising works, its benefits and disadvantages. Later on, during the workshop, they had the opportunity to try the paid campaign. Subsequently, Paulenda divided the students into 2 teams that worked on an advertising campaign for the Student Council of the Grammar School Ľudovít Štúr and on an advertising campaign for the Student Council of the Secondary Art School. New online rooms have been created for the SUW Student Council, where they can be advised to present and receive suggestions from students. The board has created its own Instagram, Youtube channel, Google + account, and changed the design of an existing Facebook page. A logo was created for the GDE Student Council and the students worked on a joint campaign to popularize their school counseling.

In addition to these activities, students were provided with a photographic studio and rooms equipped with computers to work on their online outlets. The students made full use of these spaces for their upcoming campaigns and, moreover, they were always available by photographer Kristina Pastorková, who helped them work with a professional photographic studio.

On Sunday 17 September, Ivan Ježík from Voices, who came to discuss how to present their work, was welcomed in the morning. He showed them basic body work, eye contact, how they should express themselves during the presentation. Additionally, students received advice on how to suppress stress when presenting or how to create a compelling presentation. These valuable advice was then used to create a joint presentation that students will present at TSK’s premises during the Presidents’ Meeting of the Student Councils of the Trenčín Self-Governing Region.

As the workshop was slowly approaching its finale, the students agreed on a joint strategic work program for the future and set clear deadlines for parts of the advertising campaign. On Sunday, at 13:00, the workshop was officially closed and students spoke. Throughout the implementation of the project there was a positive mood, which was provided by Pavol Paulenda and some members of the project. The way we looked at our workshop can also be seen in the next video.

The project was organized under the auspices of the Civil Association TRAKT. The project would not have been created without the financial support of the City of Trenčín and the EPH Foundation, thank you!
