Trnava

Trnava (Tyrnavia, Nagyszombat, Tyrnau) is a regional town in the west of Slovakia, the seat of the Trnava self-governing region and the Trnava district. It is the 7th largest city in the country. Since Trnava was one of the most important centers of the Roman Catholic Church in Slovakia (after 1541, for a certain period, the seat of the Archbishop of Ostrihom and since 1922 the seat of the Trnava Apostolic Administration, which was promoted to the Archbishopric in 1977) there are a number of churches and thus the nickname ” Little Rome “or” Slovak Rome “.
