6th Festival Dokoran

We are very pleased that the festival takes place again after directly in the yard, which received a new facade. Festival Dokoran thus boasts one of the most beautiful festival environment which can be found in the Czech Republic. There’s no airport, where asphalt is boiled, no cinemas and old football stadiums. Dokoran would welcome you in a beautiful park scene just by the water, while the city center is only a few minutes away. The festival will introduce foreign bands from Great Britain, Austria, Hungary, Poland or Slovakia. Even well-known Czech artists and bands which are still famous gain new fans thanks to this festival. Initiation of people involved in Dokoran festival improves the cultural environment in Karvina region. Our goal is one thing – we will make your summer days.

French Film Festival Trencin

French Film Festival – the biennial event is one of the results of the well-established friendship and partnership between the cities of Trencin and Cran-Gevrier since 1992. In addition to the film festival partner cities regularly exchange not only their culture, but also made a variety of exchanges aimed at both general and specific issues in the field of urban planning, interesting questions in the field of public administration, civil democracy, the third sector, to meet jointly organized professional conferences, and productive cooperation of schools, especially Gymnasium Ľ. Stur and Lycée Charles Beaudelaira. Event of the year is always a film festival that takes place in a reciprocal Cran-Gevrier (Festival of Slovak films, respectively european) and Trencin (French Film Festival).

French Film Festival in Trencin is the only festival promoting the purely French cinema in Slovakia. It does not attempt to compete with Bratislava’s Francophone Film Festival and his film production dramaturgy representing different cinema francophone origin. It wants to go before its amendment to a separate, distinctive atmosphere and dramaturgy, to which gradually restructures. The aim of the organizers is to give viewers the highest quality film production made by French filmmakers in the friendly environment of Metro cinema art-related events and interesting chamber or the nature of the club, which will be present during the festival city center.

Over the past seven editions in Trencin (the first was held in 1996), almost 18,000 spectators viewed over 133 performances on 88 films together. Approximately 160 representatives of Cran-Gevrier visited Trencin, the French Embassy in Slovakia, various associations and artists. In addition, French Film Festival also explored 11 exhibitions, screenings of videos and animated films, theatrical performances and musical groups.

Workshop W1

W1 Workshop was held in Uhrovec – Striebornica. The aim of the workshop is to broaden participants’ horizons and show the possibility of cooperative activities and guidance in the implementation of ideas. A main role of the workshop was a dialogue among new and older students who lead students and coach them. The important thing within this session was giving the opportunity to try out the techniques and methods of implementation that have examined the participants. The workshop was designed for three IDM labs, under the supervision of three teachers. Participants of the workshop were students of the Department of Intermedia and Digital Media / FVU / Academy of Arts in Banska Bystrica and guests, students of Robert Sender, coming from High school of Art in Trencin.

Videoart match vol.5

Stefan Olis & Lukas Matejka, both curators, introduced the best student videos from the V4 countries (Hungary, Poland and Czech Republic) at the event called Videoart vol.5 match, which was held on 10.06.2010 in the informal premises / Culture park in Kosice. Videoart match vol.5 was opened by the invited guest Michal Murin (Head of Studio Digital Media, FVU, the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica). He introduced us Lukas Matejka and Stefan Olis as university students, with a focus on fine arts.

Curators presented themselves via the projection where they shown the video of students from different countries of V4. Moreover they explored the richness and variation of the presented videos

The authors showed to the audience a game with video, audio and animation. They defined a beauty in motion, motion in time to capture the world around them as they perceive it. They captured the moment and provide it to the observers so they could realize why the video makes sense as such to get to its core meaning.

Video and also sound makes sense and it got its point and despite of that, everything what people do there is very real. Authors of the videos demonstrated beauty that is perceived only through the moment because they possess it right there, what we could see from the very first moment. As a matter of fact we don’t see what they feel, what don’t know what they experienced, what they saw, and therefore they make these videos to show the original reality of oneself which could be seen only by the one, who experiences it. That’s the purpose of videos, so others can have a chance to possess the similar feelings as the narrator. The video is inspired by everything related to it and it shows its own image.

Video projection has been supplemented with the accompanying events such as interactive video developed by the student Beata Kolbasovska, from Košice FU TU. There was also Vonoboxs’ afterparty with DJs from Budapest, Hungary.

Video, photo, text, or even music becomes the art only in case when it is born for an exact purpose. Art is related to mindedness. So, when we realize the idea of video, photo or text within our heart we can start to call it the Art.

Hour of Video Art

Projection of current student video art was held in Trencin synagogue. The event took place on 26 9th 2011 within days of Trencin. Musical guest: Flaming flowers. The main program as the name implies the projection of video art student. Topic videos were interpersonal relationships, body and flesh, political issues, social issues, environment. The curatorial selection was aimed at the lay audience to understand video many times with ironic or satirical undertones. Fire breaks revive music flowers that using drums, bongos and deejeridi campaign peculiar atmosphere of the area synagogues. With unusual acoustic space created in the administration of interesting sound variations.

The level of movement

The exhibition project titled as The Level of Movement is a fluent continuation of the cycle of exhibitions presenting young artists under the auspices of the International Film Festival Cinematik. There will be feature artists whose artistic creation is situated mostly in media video art in the foyer of The House of Arts in Piešťany. Besides formal connections we note in this fine art sample some movements that are linked to the institutional background of any exhibition space. On the one hand, the Level of Movement presents particular space “into” some kind of semi permeable boundaries of gallery, where is the specific project taking place. On the other hand, this project metaphorically reflects the position of individual artists, opens the topic of their emplacement or the possibility of emplacement in the visual art context. The artists from several areas (Bratislava, Banská Bystrica, Brno, Košice, Prague) meet in this positioning and present their own opinions and practices that reflect the subject. There are conceptual approaches confronting on one level, representing purity thoughts, pirate interventions are documented as an attempt for a new type of communication, to personal mythologies, directed to the visual angle of intimate relationships. The dominance of the video – whether in its documentary, recording position or in a position of the creation of “new reality” is completed by thinking about the object, which is linked to broader socio-cultural reflection of the space. The Level of Movement is an instant preview, synthesizing market of opportunities, and the abandonment of individual overlapping ideological practices in various forms, which more than making itself refers to a culture of use.

The artistic intervention, or double-installation in Banská Bystrica and Zvolen, will interconnect via webcam to streaming video image in real time, which will be broadcast on television screens in both towns. For a moment these two towns, not so far from each other, will be connected. The installation is in the form of trail created from natural materials, where it is placed TV with a webcam at the end of trail there is direct transfer from the other town. When passers-by are passing through the installation, they can see how the participants in the other town are walking against them on the same sidewalk, but on the other square, just a few kilometers from there. The installation will consist of natural materials (grass , moss, small stones ,sand ,straw,…), on which people could walk and feel the touch of nature barefoot, where they would never expected – right on their main squares.

At present, people are less connected to nature and spend most of their days in cities, flats etc. At least we want to transfer a piece of nature into the urban environment for a moment and by this unusual art project interrupt stereotype of everyone. We want challenge people, at least for a moment, to think about the necessity and irreplaceability of nature that we every day harm and ravage ourselves. The second important aim of the project is to bring contemporary fine art in public space, outside the gallery directly to the public. The installation in a public space, in the concrete on the squares, will be available to all passers-by for one whole day. A particularly important aspect of the project is the availability of all ages categories without limitation.

Art Eco – Creative recycling

The members of TRAKT in the composition of Lukáš Matejka, Mirka Majorošová, Štefan Oliš and Katarína Vidová participated in the European project “Youth in Action” (within Slovindia Association) called Art Eco – Creative recycling. The workshop took place in Rodowo, Poland, with public intervention in Olsztyn, Poland, with the participation of participating countries Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, Spain, Italy and home Poland.

CementARTňa

Second year of the festival of art called cementÁrtňa will take place on 25th of June 2010, again in the former freight cement-station on Kostiviarska road in Banska Bystrica (not the cement-factory on Partizanska road).

The unique industrial space will be alive after one year again on Friday at 3:30pm by art and its species and genre diversity will be and rich. The main musical-theatral programme will be paralelly guided by works of students of Faculty of Fine Arts, Academy of Arts Banska Bystrica (interactive and sound instalations, videoart, VJ-ing, action painting, site-specific projects, performance). Except that, all cargo station will be decorated by the works of young artists.

The theatral part of main proramme will be under leading of puppet actors from VSMU (Dust and ashes), actors from AU (Follow the rabbit), theatrical group medziBRODway (Faidra´s love) and performance of contemporary dance. Between the spectacles there will be shows of music groups, musicans, who will create musical part – Pas de pitié! (french chansone, Mojse quartet (jewish songs from Slovakia), Martin Geišberg, The Weeds (post-apocalyptic skiffle), Djeah quartet (jazz/funk), experimental Hallogenerator and the closing of festivla will belong to drum´n´bass tempo performed by Jarduuzza a VJ Akjetam.

The quotation “bricks are connected by cement, peoply by art” represents the main idea of this festival. Except this, the suffix –ART include the festival as entrance event between many prepared projects, which want to alive by the art the spaces, which lost the meaning and function, but not the attraction. With this point is connected another aim – thanks to help of specific atmosphere to get into the subconsciousness our unique “cement-spaces” of Banska Bystrica – the future culture-fabric.
