It is located about 14 km north of the center of Banská Bystrica, in the western part of the Starohorské vrchy. Bansky Potok flows through the village, which continues through the narrow valley southwest towards Ulicka, where it flows into Bystrice. Špania Dolina was famous for its copper ore deposits, including silver, all over Europe. The beginnings of mining here can only be dated to the 11th – 12th centuries. However, archaeological finds confirm the extraction of copper ore already in the eneolite. There are rich monumental monuments, traditional architecture, customs and traditions of the Minsk village, which you could find in the past throughout Slovakia.
