A vernissage of the exhibition of artist Mgr. art. Lukáš Matejka, ArtD. and Mgr. art. Štefan Oliša took place in the industrial areas of Antony’s factory (Turzovská st.17) situated in the eastern Slovak town of Gelnica. They both use digital media in their freestyle art work and they work with interactive installations and video art. At the exhibition called … TRAKTATY / TRACTATE, the viewers had the opportunity to see a micro-choice from their video art production. As can be understood from the title, both authors are members as well as founders of TRAKT, an organization based in Trenčín, with which the organization Zapadnutý KÚT cooperates in preparing the Gelnica Illuminations Festival.

Likewise, the term TRACTATE, meaning “reflection” or “debate”, mirrors the thinking of authors whose works reflect the surrounding reality. The event financed from public funds was supported by the Slovak Arts Council.

Do not compare, enjoy

In March 2017, TRAKT, composed by Pavol Soukal and Lukáš Matejka, in Bratislava (Palma – Vinohrady), participated in the production of a video clip for the song Do not compare, enjoy – from the Slovak musician Rytmus. In videoclip, under the Structuraum, video mapping projections were used in interiors and minimalist projections on the face.

Celebration of the 700th anniversary of Levice Castle

On the occasion of the celebration of the 700th anniversary of the first written mention of the Levice Castle and the celebration of the World Tourism Day, the Levienans and visitors of the city spent a pleasant afternoon and evening in the historical premises of the Levice Castle, one of the most historic monuments of the Nitrian Autonomous Region. During the event, members of the Tekov Regional Organization of Tourism and members of the Tekov Regional Tourism Organization presented themselves and offered a shortcut from their product, which, as a region, represents beyond the borders of our region. The main point of the event was made visible by the unique videomapping of the Levice Castle and the visual details of its history are not yet known to the citizens of Levíc. Videomapping was prepared by artists from TRAKT.

Svetlo Valmez light festival and Jirka Kral

On September 7, 2018, the second edition of the Light and Film Festival called Valmez Light was held in Valašské Meziříčí. The organizers have also memorized this year in making the program for children and young people. A large part of the upcoming installation is aimed directly at them. What more. Children from Valašské Meziříčí schools and nurseries were directly involved in the creation of the festival’s content. Children paint pictures according to their own fantasy in prepared templates. At the festival, they could watch how their drawings turned into 3D light directly on the facades of the buildings. All original visitors will be able to see the workshop at the Žerotín Castle café, where drawings by children from the Polish town of Radlin and Slovak Čadca were exhibited as part of the Vysehrad Lighting Festival project. Another attraction was undoubtedly the exhibition Meopta – the magic world of optics. In the big hall of KZ, visitors could try for example giant crust, UV light or polarization. This exhibition has been prepared by Meopta, which specializes in optical products, together with the ÚdiF Association (The Amazing Theater of Physics).

The teenagers got into the game of popular YouTuber Jirka Král. Thanks to the interactive projection from the TRAKT (Lukáš Matejka and Pavol Soukal) divided into two parts, they could not only play an author’s computer game against Jirka Kráľ. All this within the ŠKODA CAR ZONE, which was located in the space under the parking lot at the Cimal Business House. The light at the festival was literally tangible! Most installations were prepared so that visitors themselves could change colors or direction of light by touch or movement. Interactive was also used by Rožnovská dance group Heart2B and Meziříčská D – Company.

Holography on Starry Nights

The third weekend of August was the 4th year of the Starry Nights multi-genre festival in Bytča. This small Slovak festival has a completely different concept to which we might have been used to. It takes place in the city, in several places, outdoors and indoors.

It brings music, theatre and movies and does not forget even the youngest visitors. Traditionally, the highlight of the art part of the event program was the video mapping which surprised the audience by its form this year. Bytča became the only Slovak town using the video mapping. The light artworks were presented on the river, in the middle of the square.

On Friday evening, the water wall rising from the Petrovice River revived and the video mapping projection from the workshop of the art formation TRAKT was exposed. We are grateful to DHZ Hlinik for the water wall.

Park camp 5

The fifth year of the summer visual symposium PARK CAMP 2018 focuses on contemporary visual art in the public space of Trebišov City Park. The theme of the year was video mapping & sound art. The aim of the event was to create visual interventions that would respond directly to the specific area of Trebišov (site-specific art). In the park there is the Julius Andrássy Mauzolaum, a manor house with a French garden, fountains, a convent, ruins of Parič Castle, an amphitheater, a pond with an island, and many other places and selected locations for the realization of intermediary installations that can invite artists to revive their creativity and creativity. The park was one of the largest and most beautiful forest parks in Central Europe during the period between Austria and Hungary, which is why the organizer has the ambition to develop and organize cultural activities beyond the interior of the Koniareň gallery.

During the event, the audience could see the hypnotic audiovisual show on the historical façade of the baroque-classicist manor house or the planned animation for the castle of Parič. On the island of the park, a sound and light installation started, which responds to the socio-political situation in Slovakia. Part of the event was also an intermediate exhibition in a former gym in the park, which became a temporary gallery. Visitors could look at the works of contemporary young artists in it. The headliners of this year’s CAMP Park Symposium are renowned Slovak artists: Lukáš Matejka (TRAKT) and Boris Vaitovič.

This year’s event was also enriched with the partner Bread and wine event in the manor house, organized by the Museum and Cultural Center of South Zemplín. In addition to artistic activities, visitors also enjoyed accompanying activities such as refreshment stalls, evening picnics in nature, film projection under the night sky and a wide public competition – Geocaching. The purpose of the contest is to search for a “treasure” according to GPS coordinates. On Saturday night, August 18, after the city park in Trebišov, the town park “revived” and offered to the general public visual interventions prepared for this event by young artists.

Element digital graffiti

4 elements have been organically grown for 20 years with the public space of Banská Štiavnica. The celebration of this connection was also an interactive installation that allowed visitors of 4 elements and random passers-by to combine elements from the graphical identities of each vintage of 4 elements and to create their own temporary light installation directly in the public space in the center of Banská Štiavnica.

Interactive installation – Element digital graffiti – Intermediate artists Pavol Soukal and Lukáš Matejka from the civic association TRAKT have decided to realize on the basis of the need to bring current trends of contemporary art among the general public. Designer sprays, produced by 3D printing, have a small LED indicator instead of the dye. They are watched by an unobtrusive camera system that allows you to interact to produce accurate color image light. It is projected on the facade of the building. The viewer himself becomes an artist – a creative creator who draws, paint, spray on buildings. Graffiti inherently belongs to the color of the urban environment, whether in positive or negative form. In the case of Digital Digital Graffiti, there will be a small celebration of the 20th anniversary of the festival, as well as an invitation to the 4th Festival of Light and Shadow, organized by TRAKT in Banská Bystrica on September 21 and 22, 2018.

Night tours of Strečno Castle 2018

The magnificent sightseeing of Strečno Castle in a night-time atmosphere with an extraordinary program in the castle’s monsters. The personality of this year’s night tour was one of the owners of Strečno Castle, Barbora Celjska. Her life in short humorous scenes was approached by the Wagus Historical Fencing Group and revived in the courtyard of the castle in the Light Shadow Queen Barbora thanks to the modern technology of light and motion – projection mapping from the artists of TRAKT. Part of the tour was also a fire show, performance of Kapor improvisation theater on the stage, or mini-concert in the chapel.

Art in park – pixelation workshop

In the park environment, various accompanying activities were also prepared during the four days of the festival. Inspirational discussions, PARK MARKET, with fresh cut, were handled by craftsmen from Elite Barber. You could work with Lucky and Maťom with your own weight, learn to breathe properly and use the center of your body. The original piece of clothing was designed with the help of a workshop from Žabka. You could even become part of your own movie thanks to the Pixelation workshop from the creative guys from TRAKT. A commentary on the city tour brought the C20: Trenčianske Teplice Architecture Guide and the Off Season. The program also included a tour of the students’ final work in Trenčín – a garment designed by Veronika Kostková. Relaxation in the chillout zone of the park complemented the festival gastro zone.

The ART IN PARK festival came in different age categories – children, young people and adults were involved and they all created a great atmosphere full of joy and well-being! More than 4,380 viewers watched the film, Dubcek was most attracted to the movie theater, and became the most popular film of the Ciarra triler in the open-air screening. The ART IN PARK festival also enjoyed great reactions, and on Facebook’s social network, the videos from the festival had more than 18,000 views.

The fifth continuation of the favorite Stories from Trencin tells this time the story of the emperor Jozef. Viewers – the general public could see flying artists, acrobats above and under water, projection on the water wall – holography from the TRAKT workshop, light and fire theater. The story took place on the shores of Weigh 29th and 30th June 2018 between the road and the old railway bridge, and the end of the program was held at the town’s swimming pool – at the bridge to the island.
