The creative photography and film competition with an educational stay in Slovakia in 2024 is an educational activity supporting the creative potential of children of Slovaks living abroad. The creative industry accounts for significant percentages in economic development at the national, European and global levels. It is about acquiring new practical skills in photography, animation, short film and related creative segments. The activity is primarily aimed at children from primary and secondary schools, vocational schools and grammar schools. Static and moving image has gradually made its way from conventional digital cameras and camcorders to mobile phones, giving it a new language and form as well as universal accessibility. These new mobile forms offer a more easily accessible space for the development of digital creativity, invention and imagination.

TRAKT member Ondrej Druga with his project Ondro a kamaráti (Ondro and friends), which impressed the jury of the last round of the show Zem spieva, has recorded his debut CD. The project plans to release two songs from the forthcoming CD on the anniversaries of two August events: on 21 August, the anniversary of the occupation of Czechoslovakia by Warsaw Pact troops in 1968, the song Jednej krásnej noci (One Beautiful Night) will be released. The song was originally invented by the shepherd and fujarist Martin Ľupták – Sanitrár from Kováčová near Zvolen, and his voice will also be heard in the opening part of a more modern arrangement of the song.

On 29 August 2022, on the anniversary of the Slovak National Uprising, the project plans to publish the song In a wide field the linden tree stands. It is a song with an anti-fascist context: the original song by the world-famous Alexanders in Horehronie has been rejuvenated – local people have taken over the melody and changed the words.

Both singles will be part of an upcoming CD, which plans to complete this project during the autumn of 2022.

We invite you to the Baptism of the album UNDER THE CLOUD, which will take place on Friday, February 24, 2023 in the Workers’ House at 7:00 pm.

Ondro and friends is a group of musician-friends who like to experiment and dream. In 2020 they took part in the TV competition Zem sìva, where they impressed the jury and made it to the finals. In most of their arrangements, they emphasize the recognition of selected stylistic elements of the processed songs according to the specific localities of their origin, but in several cases also according to specific singers – bearers of the traditions. This is the culmination of a project that has been creating and publishing its arrangements for several years. In addition to musicians, the programme will also feature prominent singers from various parts of Slovakia.

The project has been supported by the Fund for the Support of the Arts from public funds. The recording and release of the CD Pod obločkom was made in close cooperation with TRAKT and Môlča records. The musicians who participated in the CD were:

The original artistic work of Radoslav Piovarči (TRAKT) will be presented in the period from August 2022 to June 2023. The productions CHARON and JUST ASK HER. will be presented successively on the territory of the Slovak Republic.

CHARON

17 Aug 2022 at the festival Tanečnô in Námestovo

JUST ASK HER

18. 11. 2022 ART GANG, Studio of Dance Theatre, Banská Bystrica

April 2023, Bratislava (planned performance)

July 2023, Košice (planned performance)

The project focuses on the presentation of Radoslav Piovarči’s authorial productions in the district towns, but also in the villages. The productions use the language of contemporary dance, but above all they reflect essential themes such as gender equality, moral attitude to death and active survival. The works were created in complicated years – Charon 2021, JUST ASk HER. 2022, when interest in culture was declining, but there was nevertheless great interest and demand for attendance of the productions. With the support of the Arts Support Fund, as well as its own resources, more than 15 performances have been staged in recent years.

After this experience of presenting works in different spaces where contemporary dance had no place until then, we know how beneficial it was for the public to see other art forms they had not encountered before. With more contemporary art on offer, there is also a greater demand for a cultural experience. With the new production JUST ASK HER, the project would have the opportunity to build on and continue the active work of Radoslav Piovarči (TRAKT) in the regions of Slovakia.Interaction with the public, as well as a form of provocation, are the reasons for stepping out of our comfort zone of technically equipped theatres. The aim of the project is to reprise each work in as many performances as possible, in the regional context of the Slovak Republic.

We cordially invite the audience to all the reprises, which I will inform you about on FACEBOOK and on the web www.trakt.sk

Supported from public funds by the Fund for the Support of the Arts.

The Chaldean empire finds itself at war with the Persians under King Cyrus II, thanks to the treachery of the Babylonian priests. The commander of the Babylonian army, Nebuzar, searches the land for Persian spies and in the course of his wanderings meets the beautiful Nanai with whom he and she fall in love, unaware that it is because of this encounter that Nanai is sold to the mercy of the rich. She is saved from her fate by the Persian spy Ustiga, with whom she falls in love, but later, because of her endless and devoted love for Babylon and also for Nebuzar, Ustiga turns her over to the Babylonian army. Everything crumbles, the priests kill even the last resisters, and only a single commander of the armies sounds the alarm against the Persian threat. The plan to defend Babylon is in the hands of the Persians, and so the Babylonian army finally arises. The war lasts for two long years after which the Persians retreat for all the world. Babylon celebrates, Nanai pleads for Ustig’s liberation. The Persians take advantage of the unpreparedness of the Babylonians and, through the deflated riverbeds, attack and conquer Babylon. Only a few survive, among them Nanai, who remains in the vision of building a new free Babylon….

The Festival of lights and shadow in the heart of Slovakia came into existence in 2015 on the occasion of the UN declaration of that year as the International Year of lights and light-based technologies. The aim of this step is to remind people across the world of what a significant role light and optical technologies play in the everyday life and in the future development of our society.

Our festival will bring an adaptation of a subject of MEMORY into the public space of the city of Banská Bystrica with the help of contemporary artists in December 2021. Many artists work with the subject of memory, often to record something for future generations. Others prefer to disrupt the memory in unexpected ways to change the methods by which we look at the past. How does the art influence our collective memory? And how can it inform our experience about significant events of our time?

We want to do art that tells stories. Stories about personal and cultural memory. Art is open to interpretation. Memory of the past is not a clear story. It is a combination of opinions from different points of view.

WHEN: 15. – 18. 12. 2021

WHERE: public space of Banská Bystrica

More information at: www.svetlo-tien.sk

Festival was funded by the Slovak Arts Council from public resources. Thank you.

The interdisciplinary project Earth builds on the interaction of several artistic fields. It is based on Ivana Mer’s album “Earth” (which was nominated for the Radio Head Awards as the album of the year in the world music folk category) and develops it further. Visual artist Mária Júdová created stunning video projections, artist Katarína Caková created a special scenography, the hand-woven costume is from the workshop of Daniela Danielis WNOOZOW, and the choreographer Soňa Ferienčíková took care of the movement preparation. The blurred boundaries between the genres thus become even more fluid, so that the viewer is carried away by the current into the surprising and remote corners of a unique musical and visual universe.

Focusing on the changes we are going through as humanity, but also about the deep essences we have in common as humanity, this interdisciplinary project aims to to pass on the call of the Earth for change and for a more conscious approach to it as well as to ourselves. Project is an ode to nature, the call for empathy, and a change in our behavior.

We celebrated International Earth Day with this unique interdisciplinary performance, which also featured special guests- including violinist and singer Nina Rosa, percussionist Miloš Vacík and musician Bára Zmeková.

The project was supported by the Slovak arts council.

Dance-visual performance entitled CHARON is inspired by the mythological creature Charon – the ferrymen of souls, and the Joseph Campbell thesis about mythology being a power able to create moral systems. The Charon´s character was selected to personify human qualities in their self-reflection. It shows a contrast in the characters reflecting the attitudes to the ancient story. The theme that had already resonated in Ancient Greece highlights the fact how much is the value of money deep rooted into the human conscience. We may find the inspiration in several mythos, paintings by famous artists, ancient songs and texts. The cornerstone of the creative process is the very recitation of sound-quaint ancient texts and their transformation into the movement, performance and musical composition. The stories of our myths of the current being transcend the borders of worlds and shift the movement and the music into a more intense relationship. A series of video arts will be created during the creative process.

At the beginning of August, every year we commemorate one of the dark chapters of our history – the Roma Holocaust. He was as cruel and insane as the Holocaust of the Jewish population. This Nazi extermination of races and nations must remain forever in the memory of humanity so that it can never happen again in the future.

The memory with the cultural program directed by David Tišer took place on August 2, 2020 from 12:00 in the premises of the SNP Museum in Banská Bystrica. During a week during her visit to the Banská Bystrica region, President Zuzana Čaputová came to honor the memory of the victims of the Roma Holocaust. On Sunday, the citizens commemorated the Roma Holocaust Memorial Day with the participation of Prime Minister Igor Matovič, Minister of the Interior Roman Mikulec, Government Plenipotentiary for the Roma Community Andrey Bučková, Deputy Prime Minister Jakub Gajdošík and other guests.

The program also included a digital projection with the names of the victims of the Roma Holocaust in the entrance hall on the SNP sign. The new projection from the TRAKT workshop was prepared and realized by digital artist Lukáš Matejka.

The idea of the ATOPIC contemporary dance performance is the theme of atopic in relation to itself and influencing the mental state based on the diagnosis of “atopic exema”.

poNOIR is a contemporary dance performance. Merging into one whole. Convergence, unification into one body, soul and thus create symbiosis. Continuity, continuity, continuity…. All that will immerse us in depth and bring us a diverse view of the reality that changes right before our eyes.

A unique fusion of two contemporary dance projects will take place:

The Festival of Light and Shadow will traditionally light up the public space of Banská Bystrica in 2019. The 5th year will present contemporary visual forms and light art in the public space of the town below Urpín.

Young art projects will sensitively open the theme of the union in their wide cultural and social spectrum by their ideological legacy. Projects will focus on networking, collaboration (multi-generation, multi-genre, cross-species), networking, networking, connectivity and finding new ways. The festival’s priority is to provide space for young, un-established artists from Slovakia and the European environment. The festival wants to be the engine at the start of their professional artistic career. We want to inspire, educate and entertain the general public. We promise to the public, viewers and visitors truly unusual experiences. When? 27 September 2019 after dark.
