Dance-visual performance entitled CHARON is inspired by the mythological creature Charon – the ferrymen of souls, and the Joseph Campbell thesis about mythology being a power able to create moral systems. The Charon´s character was selected to personify human qualities in their self-reflection. It shows a contrast in the characters reflecting the attitudes to the ancient story. The theme that had already resonated in Ancient Greece highlights the fact how much is the value of money deep rooted into the human conscience. We may find the inspiration in several mythos, paintings by famous artists, ancient songs and texts. The cornerstone of the creative process is the very recitation of sound-quaint ancient texts and their transformation into the movement, performance and musical composition. The stories of our myths of the current being transcend the borders of worlds and shift the movement and the music into a more intense relationship. A series of video arts will be created during the creative process.

A full-length dance performance / conceptual movement form for four dancers where choreography overlaps with fine art.

The author / director of the project is Tomáš Moravanský, working in the field of intermedia, conceptual and dramatic works. He focuses on audiovisual projects, opera direction, gallery installations, music and choreography. The production line of the project is covered by TRAKT.

The introduction of Interpellation deals with human movement as a daily, work or social programmed form – a register of civil movements that do not fall into dance but can be its starting material. These are activities related to the creation and interpretation of a work of art and leisure activities in which the actor automatically enters ecstatic state and in which the process itself is important. The project adopts a choreography understood as a system of power control over the human body in activities that are understood in society as a manifestation of freedom or individualism.

Lukáš Matejka (TRAKT) participated his own projections on the international project Equinox. Equinox is the result of a two-year cycle of creative stays in France, Mexico, Hungary and Slovakia. It is a multidisciplinary international performance experimenting with the boundaries of ourselves, with little-crossed forms such as classical and contemporary dance, opera, contemporary classical music, theater, video art and animation.

Kafka’s “America” and “Lock” novels served as the subject of the project, as were the stories of illegal immigrants leaving today from Mexico to the United States. The atmosphere is based on Karol Beff’s original musical work, which won the title of Best French Composer in 2013. Directed by the French director and artistic director of Euroculture Laurent Festas. The introduction of the Equinox was premiered in the summer under the Marseille – Provence 2013 program.

As part of an international project Hopes and Memories, in which TRAKT represents one of the five partner organizations, our visual team will be participate for two years on a common formation of multidisciplinary of artwork that is based on prohibited opera “The Barrier” composed by Jan Meyerowitz in, 1949.

The first common creative step was 10-day residence in the South Africa in Durban. TRAKT via Michaela Bottková participated in the development of international cooperation and also trained students of Drama department at Durban University of Technology – for two days by intensive workshops.

The workshop program was divided into several subject fields as new media, scenic design, video and film, dance and choreography and physical theatre. Under our leadership, together with the multi-talented African students were created a very brave and interesting works which will expand by other common projects in next year.

Our action in Durban University much-admired Institution itself and wrote about our activities HERE.

Visual artists during they stay for several days had an opportunity to discover and share African and European influences. They stopped in and paid a visit to many villages and townships, where they absorbed a local culture and traditions of Zulus. During a number of visits a KwaMashu township, artists were involved in the educational system in local areas, schools and courses of dance. Through the work of our Hungarian choreographer partner, young Durban and Kwamashu dancers got a short daily dance training in physical theater and contemporary dance, which offered them a totally different approach to dancing. And as a repay he learned from them some local dance motion and folklore steps which are usually performed in the rain boots.

In addition team had the opportunity to lead workshops in various “godforsaken” areas, but which are locals using as their classes and studios. Artistic centres such as KwaMashu theatre and BAT Centre in Durban just confirmed to us the obvious fact, about how many talented and capable artists in this country is waiting to be found.

One thing is lucid; our residence in South Africa has revealed to us many secrets of this world, which will be very helpful in the formation of our overall project.
