Castle Walls

The motto of the 47th Castle play of Zvolen is RESTART. It refers to revival of the festival after one-year break and it reflects the after-effects of the Year of Slovak Theater and the concept of unmasking of the 72^nd season of Jozef Gregor Tajovský Theater coming to an end. The festival will take place between the 4^th and the 20^th of June 2021.

After an introduction of the Prague theater Na Jezerce, we cordially invite you to the final event of the festival taking place on the 18^th June around 9:15 pm and a ceremonial evaluation of the two festival weeks – PROJECTION OF FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS. The projection that was prepared by TRAKT will be projected on the castle walls in the presence of organizers of the festival from Jozef Gregor Tajovský Theater and their hosts. More information is available at www.zhz.sk. The festival was funded from the public resources by the Slovak Arts Council. It is organized in cooperation with the Slovak National Gallery – Zvolen Castle. The festival is organized with financial support from Autonomous Region – Banská Bystrica and the city of Zvolen.

Revived walls

Interactive light installations linking past and present. This is the project of the revitalized TRACT workshop. Nightly uncovering photographs from the archive from the 70-year history of the Jozef Gregor Tajovský Theater in Zvolen and the history of the City of Zvolen. After three nights, the interactive light spray in the hands of visitors will revive the past on the facades of three buildings in the center of Zvolen. The darkness of the JGT Theater (June 9, 2019), the Old Town Hall (June 11, 2019) and the Zvolen Castle (June 21, 2019) will come alive.

TRAKT in the composition of Lukáš Matejka and Denis Matúš participated in the second session of the Development of personal and social skills. This time the seminary was held under the umbrella of ASK, O2 Think Big, Ekopolis Foundation and the Children of Slovakia Foundation, and it took place in Zvolen.

The artistic intervention, or double-installation in Banská Bystrica and Zvolen, will interconnect via webcam to streaming video image in real time, which will be broadcast on television screens in both towns. For a moment these two towns, not so far from each other, will be connected. The installation is in the form of trail created from natural materials, where it is placed TV with a webcam at the end of trail there is direct transfer from the other town. When passers-by are passing through the installation, they can see how the participants in the other town are walking against them on the same sidewalk, but on the other square, just a few kilometers from there. The installation will consist of natural materials (grass , moss, small stones ,sand ,straw,…), on which people could walk and feel the touch of nature barefoot, where they would never expected – right on their main squares.

At present, people are less connected to nature and spend most of their days in cities, flats etc. At least we want to transfer a piece of nature into the urban environment for a moment and by this unusual art project interrupt stereotype of everyone. We want challenge people, at least for a moment, to think about the necessity and irreplaceability of nature that we every day harm and ravage ourselves. The second important aim of the project is to bring contemporary fine art in public space, outside the gallery directly to the public. The installation in a public space, in the concrete on the squares, will be available to all passers-by for one whole day. A particularly important aspect of the project is the availability of all ages categories without limitation.
