TRAKT will participate in the 5th edition of the Beast Film Festival in Porto (Portugal) with a video art exhibition under the curatorial direction of Štefan Oliš. The section is composed of a selection of videos from the Videoart match project to which it is loosely related. Štefan Oliš, a contemporary artist and educator from Slovakia, will present videos by students from different V4 countries. He will introduce the audience in Porto to the variety and diversity of video art – the play with video, sound and animation. Defining beauty in motion, movement in time, capturing the world around them as they perceive it. Video art is the impetus for everything and the artist is its image.

Dance-visual performance entitled CHARON is inspired by the mythological creature Charon – the ferrymen of souls, and the Joseph Campbell thesis about mythology being a power able to create moral systems. The Charon´s character was selected to personify human qualities in their self-reflection. It shows a contrast in the characters reflecting the attitudes to the ancient story. The theme that had already resonated in Ancient Greece highlights the fact how much is the value of money deep rooted into the human conscience. We may find the inspiration in several mythos, paintings by famous artists, ancient songs and texts. The cornerstone of the creative process is the very recitation of sound-quaint ancient texts and their transformation into the movement, performance and musical composition. The stories of our myths of the current being transcend the borders of worlds and shift the movement and the music into a more intense relationship. A series of video arts will be created during the creative process.

The Park CAMP workshop is the sixth edition currently focusing on Landart & Videoart. The project from the workshop Koniareň / space for contemporary art / will bring art in public space to the city park in Trebišov in cooperation with the Museum and Cultural Center of Southern Zemplín in Trebišov.

The aim of the project is to create space and suitable conditions for students and fresh graduates of art universities in Slovakia (VŠVU in Bratislava, AU in Banská Bystrica, TU FU in Košice) for the purpose of improvement and progress in the field of contemporary art, new media and media. The project aims to bring the cultural center closer to the natural environment of the Trebišov park in the form of social interventions, where participants, in addition to land art & video art, can work with strategies of site-specific art, performance, sound art, public art, conceptual art and new media.

An important aspect of the event will be the final presentation of the project in the gallery Koniareň and directly in the city park in Trebišov, where during the weekend the city park will come alive thanks to the created works of individual participating artists. Within the project Lukáš Matejka (TRAKT) will present himself with a new videoart – video mapping directly on the facade of the manor house in Trebišov.

A vernissage of the exhibition of artist Mgr. art. Lukáš Matejka, ArtD. and Mgr. art. Štefan Oliša took place in the industrial areas of Antony’s factory (Turzovská st.17) situated in the eastern Slovak town of Gelnica. They both use digital media in their freestyle art work and they work with interactive installations and video art. At the exhibition called … TRAKTATY / TRACTATE, the viewers had the opportunity to see a micro-choice from their video art production. As can be understood from the title, both authors are members as well as founders of TRAKT, an organization based in Trenčín, with which the organization Zapadnutý KÚT cooperates in preparing the Gelnica Illuminations Festival.

Likewise, the term TRACTATE, meaning “reflection” or “debate”, mirrors the thinking of authors whose works reflect the surrounding reality. The event financed from public funds was supported by the Slovak Arts Council.

Taken together by the choreographer of Banská Bystrica Dance Studio and musical composer, he prepares a compact work combining performer performance of dancers and live artistic performance of musicians. It is born and grows in the environment in which artists live and work, and therefore reflects their life experience and attitude – a true presence. We dance instead of anger, hate, snorting, dancing instead of wars, instead of disposing one another in any way, because we paste all the passion into the sweat of our bodies.

The fascinating flow of the river, in its excess, can flow out of the bed. This casting can be twofold: once it is a blessing when it dries the dry earth and gives new life and energy; Sometimes, when he floods the dwelling, he dugs the dungeon and takes his life. Thus, our inner river of emotions can be ejected in a different way, either growing or oblagging, or growing in perdition. What do you predominate?

Park camp is a project taking place in Trebišov’s park from 18th to 23rd of July 2016 organised by members of „OZ KONTEXT“ Peter Valiska -Timečko and Branislav Zurko. The role of the lecturers was taken by Lukáš Matejka and Štefan Oliš from „TRAKT“ and their external colleague Ján Ančic took. The target group of Park camp 3 were students of art universities. The project was focused on video and sound art. The aim was a creation of pieces of art responding to the park ambiance – site-specific art. They tried to reflect the relation between urban and natural environment (public-private, organic-inorganic, natural – industrial). Many students of Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, Banska Bystrica and Košice participated on the project. The organisers prepared a kind of „educational laboratory“ to provide students with new creative stimuli and knowledge of actual and progressive art. They had an opportunity to learn new creative methods through experimenting.

There was a field trip of the old city center guided by M. Urban, Slovak wine tasting and several educative presentations e.g. Koniareň platform, sound technologies by J. Ančič, art projects by L.Matejka and Š.Oliš, history of intermedial projects in Slovakia by M.Murin, students work exhibition, Maroš Kontroš’s vernissage and Milan Ladyk’s performance. The highlight was a night tour intended for the general public guided by curator Michal Murin.

The park came alive with young authors’ pieces of art: Ján Krška‘s „Mausoleum video mapping Realitta“ reflecting current political and social situation, FIlip Kmeť’s sound installation „Dutiny“ and interactive installation „Ostrov“, Matúš Gavorník’s sound installation „Enter the Wild„ expressing the difference between artificially created green zones in urban areas and wild nature, which was paradoxically depicted by movement of little electric machines, Martin Hreha’s sound installation, Martin Koniar’s dance performance „Trebishow+“ in which the dribbling performer with lights attached to his body accompanied with musical composition presented a kind of modern ritual. The performer was interacting with the audience by passing the ball to them.

Matej Ivan’s audiovisual experiment creating a dialogue took place in the park as well. It was based on site specific connection of the dog shelter, fox coursing, which are supposed to start again in the park, game hunting and animal protection exhibitions. Jana Mikleová’s installation “Pólo“ referred to a historical polo match.

„Nová Koniareň“ is an independent cultural centre in Trebišov. It merges a cultural laboratory, cultural institution and collective of activists. There are ateliers in Trebišov castle situated in one of the biggest forest parks in Slovakia. The park has many gardens, fountains, lakes and cyclopaths. There is also the Július Andrássy’s Mausoleum, ruins of Parič’s castle, wine taverns, a French garden and several recreation zones.

Subway station evokes the enclosed space of a small theater. This area presents an unusual student scene from the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Academy of Arts in Banska Bystrica. The content of the videos are a variety of topics from social through minimalist interventions in public space, to gender, or just exploring your own ego. The dominant focus is on values as such nevertheless, student’s native spirit of rebellion and change the world is presented as well.

The project seeks to revive the space of the train station underpass within one day, offering video advertising format, as we are used to, but it tries to bring culture among ordinary people who travel by train every day. It focuses on a community of travelers, who are not assessed by age or social class. This particular installation in a public space is trying to bring the benefits of arts to the general audience while simultaneously is trying to improve the area where we live and remove stereotype of public space.

The project was financially supported by Healthy City Community Foundation – YouthBank magnet. The implementation of this project was made by informal group consisting of Stephen Olis, Lukas Matejka and Maria Judova, who are also part of the civic association TRAKT.

We are very pleased that the festival takes place again after directly in the yard, which received a new facade. Festival Dokoran thus boasts one of the most beautiful festival environment which can be found in the Czech Republic. There’s no airport, where asphalt is boiled, no cinemas and old football stadiums. Dokoran would welcome you in a beautiful park scene just by the water, while the city center is only a few minutes away. The festival will introduce foreign bands from Great Britain, Austria, Hungary, Poland or Slovakia. Even well-known Czech artists and bands which are still famous gain new fans thanks to this festival. Initiation of people involved in Dokoran festival improves the cultural environment in Karvina region. Our goal is one thing – we will make your summer days.
