Society benefits and develops forward when there is mutual trust between people. All the more so when trust grows. It goes hand in hand. Until when? Until the moment when the erroneous realisation came that it was enough to weaken trust in every single way, gently and subtly over time. Individuals/people/groups/communities/nations stop trusting each other based on tiny disinfo-pulses. Gradually, the emerging distrust gnaws at the bones of everything. And it is from this mistrust that individuals are currently benefiting and profiting at the expense of the growth of society as a whole. “You don’t trust science, you don’t get vaccinated. You don’t trust finance, you diversify into cryptocurrencies. You don’t believe in the media, you run to conspiracy media. You don’t believe in democracy, you admire authoritarian regimes and populists.” The crisis of confidence is a major ideological starting point.

The main activities of the project are the research and decomposition of phenomena and themes that undermine trust. A collection of 5 large-format original paintings by artist Lukáš Matejka – portraits (160 x 100 cm) will be created. The portraits are based on real people – representatives of the church, finance, judiciary, police and medicine. An important skeleton of the emerging works is also the work with audio – interviews – monologues – the destruction of voices of trust/distrust. The author creates an acoustic collage with people who. who have lost or are losing trust. An equal part of the exhibited paintings will be this created sound environment (recordings, editing, post-processing). The viewer – visitor of the newly emerging FORMAAT Gallery in Trencin will thus find himself in a gallery with a complex authorial painting-acoustic collection Crisis of Trust, which will affect him visually and acoustically.

The aim and contribution of the project is to realize a visual reflection/authorial exhibition referring to the growing tendency of mistrust in society, which impacts directly or indirectly on each of us. The target audience of the exhibition is mainly the general public, students and the professional – artistic community.

The combination of the word “tasting” and the letter “V” in the title of the exhibition is intended to indicate that it is a wine tasting on which the entire work of Lukáš Matejka and Štefan Oliš is based. The work itself consists of happening – classic wine tasting. The work responds directly to the functioning of openings and similar events – to elitism in art. Why do people go to the opening? The vernissage is the grand opening of the exhibition, which is usually associated with an art program and refreshments. In these circumstances, people hear the opening speech. Then they are happy to engage in discussions with friends and refreshments already mentioned… The exhibition itself and art often fall into the background. So why wouldn’t wine tasting alone be art?

November 19, 2019, 17:00, M. A. Bazovský Gallery, Trenčín

“Tasting V” consists of a short event, a classic wine tasting in the gallery space. It is a public evaluation of wine made available to the general public. Appropriation or appropriation of the event – wine tasting as an artistic activity. The staged event reconstructs real, live tasting in real time and space and in direct interaction with visitors to the Trenčín M. A. Bazovský Gallery.

Miriama Kardosova will present a series of small-format paintings in the Sopa Gallery. These paintings represent a post-process output of semi-improvised private events. Painting as a medium remains the basic means of expression. Performance is the equivalent of expression, gesture, and musical expression which Kardošová applies also to the painting medium. By combining the performance sketch, the movable (digital) image with the commodity of the hanging image as the final and material artefact, the author achieves a synergetic effect. Kardošová primarily focuses on the topics that touch still unexplored aspects of body and flesh, own ontology and Alter Ego, which she explores through visual culture, different social stereotypes or gender positions.

Miriama Kardošová (1988) is a representative of the young generation of Slovak painting. She graduated from Art studio (contemporary art) program at the Faculty of Arts in Košice and from the Studio of intermedia art program under the guidance of doc. ak. mal. Jiří David at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague.

The exhibition was supported from public sources by the Arts Support Fund. The Arts Support Fund is the main partner of the project.

A vernissage of the exhibition of artist Mgr. art. Lukáš Matejka, ArtD. and Mgr. art. Štefan Oliša took place in the industrial areas of Antony’s factory (Turzovská st.17) situated in the eastern Slovak town of Gelnica. They both use digital media in their freestyle art work and they work with interactive installations and video art. At the exhibition called … TRAKTATY / TRACTATE, the viewers had the opportunity to see a micro-choice from their video art production. As can be understood from the title, both authors are members as well as founders of TRAKT, an organization based in Trenčín, with which the organization Zapadnutý KÚT cooperates in preparing the Gelnica Illuminations Festival.

Likewise, the term TRACTATE, meaning “reflection” or “debate”, mirrors the thinking of authors whose works reflect the surrounding reality. The event financed from public funds was supported by the Slovak Arts Council.

Gelnica Illumination is a multi-genre festival combining digital art, lighting installations, photography, literature and music, which took place for the first time on September 9, 2017 in Gelnica. Overall, the festival offered 10 projects from young Slovak artists, including members of TRAKT Pavol Soukal and Filip Kmeť. The Black Holes exhibition brought visitors to the underground of Miner Museum. People were given helmets and mining lights and could see photos of the forgotten cultural and industrial monuments of Spiš and Gemer. Photographs from the pubs of the Hnilec Valley were presented by Dominika Čarná at an exhibition titled Inventory. Part of the exhibition included period documents from the times of socialism. Art designer Veronika Kollárová presented her work on the exhibition Bločky. People could also try drawing on heat-sensitive paper. He was also interested in the digital graffiti project (Pavol Soukal – TRAKT), as well as projection at the Baník Museum (Ľubomír Slovinský – Zapadlý KÚT) or one of the classicist houses on Luther Square (Pavol Soukal, Filip Kmeť – TRAKT). Fans of the Spišskonovoveska formation Smola and Pears have pleased the concert of their favorite musicians. The synagogue, as well as the fate of the local Jewish community, recalled the light installation of Gabrielle Lenďák and Nora Žaludeková called In the Fire.

Park camp is a project taking place in Trebišov’s park from 18th to 23rd of July 2016 organised by members of „OZ KONTEXT“ Peter Valiska -Timečko and Branislav Zurko. The role of the lecturers was taken by Lukáš Matejka and Štefan Oliš from „TRAKT“ and their external colleague Ján Ančic took. The target group of Park camp 3 were students of art universities. The project was focused on video and sound art. The aim was a creation of pieces of art responding to the park ambiance – site-specific art. They tried to reflect the relation between urban and natural environment (public-private, organic-inorganic, natural – industrial). Many students of Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, Banska Bystrica and Košice participated on the project. The organisers prepared a kind of „educational laboratory“ to provide students with new creative stimuli and knowledge of actual and progressive art. They had an opportunity to learn new creative methods through experimenting.

There was a field trip of the old city center guided by M. Urban, Slovak wine tasting and several educative presentations e.g. Koniareň platform, sound technologies by J. Ančič, art projects by L.Matejka and Š.Oliš, history of intermedial projects in Slovakia by M.Murin, students work exhibition, Maroš Kontroš’s vernissage and Milan Ladyk’s performance. The highlight was a night tour intended for the general public guided by curator Michal Murin.

The park came alive with young authors’ pieces of art: Ján Krška‘s „Mausoleum video mapping Realitta“ reflecting current political and social situation, FIlip Kmeť’s sound installation „Dutiny“ and interactive installation „Ostrov“, Matúš Gavorník’s sound installation „Enter the Wild„ expressing the difference between artificially created green zones in urban areas and wild nature, which was paradoxically depicted by movement of little electric machines, Martin Hreha’s sound installation, Martin Koniar’s dance performance „Trebishow+“ in which the dribbling performer with lights attached to his body accompanied with musical composition presented a kind of modern ritual. The performer was interacting with the audience by passing the ball to them.

Matej Ivan’s audiovisual experiment creating a dialogue took place in the park as well. It was based on site specific connection of the dog shelter, fox coursing, which are supposed to start again in the park, game hunting and animal protection exhibitions. Jana Mikleová’s installation “Pólo“ referred to a historical polo match.

„Nová Koniareň“ is an independent cultural centre in Trebišov. It merges a cultural laboratory, cultural institution and collective of activists. There are ateliers in Trebišov castle situated in one of the biggest forest parks in Slovakia. The park has many gardens, fountains, lakes and cyclopaths. There is also the Július Andrássy’s Mausoleum, ruins of Parič’s castle, wine taverns, a French garden and several recreation zones.

The exhibition project called Seven Touches offers confronting works of young artists whose common denominator is to draw attention to the human senses – their imperfection, frailty, and an attempt to verify their ability to reliably transmit information. The wide range of media (text from conceptual tuned installation audio and video installation) so communication takes place in the underground area, so in comparison to impersonal gallery framework provides a platform cramped and uncertainty stronger tone of the works. On the one hand, questioning calculated to occur logical thinking and handling audience expectations, on the other hand it is a subjectively defined relationship to space, time, or the imitation of the attributes of living biological structure underground.

From the ironic horror found footage, which also expands into the expansive environment, thus drastically mess up the line between film and reality, through the intervention facing an entry chamber and the presence of a person in an unfamiliar environment, to the deceptively guided by assumptions and stereotypes of perception, parasitizing the viewer doubt extends line between the individual works. This nexus is a form of navigation, topographic map of sensory perception, which is the essence of an opinion to learn understanding the relationships, an attempt to define a new orientation and sensory examination of the limits of reality. Seven Touches reviews the viewers’ expectations and pushes them to be a line beyond which to see is not to believe.
