The non-profit organization Voices organized the third continuation of the event On Their Own Feet, which took place in the centre of Trencin in the Vazka Gallery on Tuesday 19 February 2019 from 18:00.

The wider goal of the format is to non-violently motivate young people in the city to creativity and autonomy, to facilitate new friendship formation, and cooperation and to contribute to the development of the community. The main line is the presentation of speakers. One of them was also a member and a co-founder of TRAKT, Mgr. art. Štefan Oliš. Among other speakers there were: Marek Hattas, Miša Chmelickova, Peter Michalik and Zuzana Vaskova. The notional line was set high. All the representatives were talking about how they went and go for what they like and what they care about.

Escalator study week

Escalator is an intensive capacity building and training programme for those working in the independent cultural sector. Now running for two years, Escalator has one main objective: to help cultural & creative professionals and artists achieve success on their own terms and, in so doing, to become cultural innovators and entrepreneurs who can effect and inspire change. For 2015, Escalator will expand its reach to include organisations and artists from all of Slovakia. Selected participants for the 2015 programme will work together and with Kosice participants who will be continuing on the programme. TRAKT in June joined with Michaela Bottkova Escalator Study week, where together with 10 other culture representatives got training in important cultural issues such as leadership principle, audience development and fundraising.

Discussion Youth Peace Advocacy

During the 2 months (March, April) TRAKT member Michaela Bottková took part at the online training Storytelling for peace. Together with another 25 participants and 20 associations they were trained in many specific exercises and tasks, which should prepare them for their workshop. The workshop then took place on the 27.4. – 3.5. 2014. The ambassadors of the EU countries and The Middle East were together looking for the possibilities, how to help people open their eyes blind from the war and senseless conflicts. The help was in the form of the creative process of storytelling. The training was focused on audio-visual creation, creative writing and improvised theater. Every member passed during the week of intensive training through the 3 steps – narrator, story and viewer. TRAKT thus joined the Peace Ambassadors 2014 and together continue in developing and improving of this peace platform.

The gathering was performed on June 12th – June 13th. There were two participants from civil association TRAKT, Lukas Matejka and Denis Matus. This happening was a part of the project supported by O2 Telefonica called Think Big (Slovak beamvertising) . Two-day long training was developed in cooperation with the Foundation for the Children of Slovakia Foundation Ekopolis Association S. Kovalik – Education for the 21st century in Slovakia and O2. Training, which was focused on the development of social and personal skills, was held in Bratislava. There were 2 lecturers: Tatiana Piovarciova and Alena Matuskova. Participants of this training got to know each other so they can cooperate on the projects in the future. Furthermore, participants have become familiar with communication techniques, which were demonstrated in practical exercises. In each block of instruction we learned and tested differences between criticism and feedback, as well as to reflect the correct feedback, active listening and its components, motivation and communication, paraphrasing, summarizing, and much more. The most interesting thing observed by the TRAKT members was the idea of alternative education directed to children in elementary school. During the class break, they had the opportunity to look into this type of class and talk directly with school students and teachers. You can find more info about this education method here.

TRAKT in the composition of Lukáš Matejka and Denis Matúš participated in the second session of the Development of personal and social skills. This time the seminary was held under the umbrella of ASK, O2 Think Big, Ekopolis Foundation and the Children of Slovakia Foundation, and it took place in Zvolen.
