On the occasion 777th anniversary of the first written mention of re-in ceremony held here, which resembled this memorable day. During the three days, ie 11th -13th September 2015 took place nearby cultural center, football field, but also the amount of church events. One of them was a screening of the document to re-called Opatová 775. The core document in fact formed footage from similar celebrations that are held in a big way two years earlier. He narrated the film, along with local actor Ondrej Duris well-known Slovak actor Marek Ťapák. The document has a master Ťapák role of “passers” who needs all the “costumed festivities,” firemen, footballers or harmonica to include and clarify their role in the social life of the village.

Elizabeth Harry Gavendová addition to the rights of another trapping traditions and customs of their region, which are also present in its irreplaceable role in the lives of people. “Not everyone that takes, that’s for sure. But I always try to create the conditions to ensure that I get the most out of these habits caught. They are unrepeatable things that can have next generation next will not involve. However, it is amazing continue doing until it can – in addition to the record.”

The member of TRAKT and a documentary filmmaker Marek Janičík made a 30-minute documentary called „Cinema World“ 3 years ago. It is a film about one of last classic (motion picture) cinemas in Slovakia that was in operation for over 60 years. However, the parish council was forced to close the cinema due to lack of finance in order to digitize its film projector. In fact, this is how more than 70% of classic cinemas ceased to exist. Being depicted in the documentary, this tragicomic story was brought to fame and was well-received at international film festivals. Up to now, the documentary has been screened at 26 international film festivals and has won 6 awards. Fortunately, the times have changed and the Ministry of Culture came to realize that local cinemas are an essential element in the cultural life of villages. Along with libraries cinemas used to be the only cultural venues in small towns as well as villages. Accordingly, the Ministry of Culture and the Audiovisual Fund made a decision to create a cheaper version of digitization which would be affordable for smaller communities outside major Slovak cities.

After having been closed for more than a year and several months, the cinema Osveta at Očová was one of the facilities approached by the Ministry to digitize and reopen. The village (also thanks to the documentary) became one of the first three digitized village cinemas in Slovakia that did not shy away and consequently resumed screenings on 8 March 2014. People can comfortably watch latest movies without having to travel to neighbouring Detva, Zvolen or Banská Bystrica. And guess what the exclusive premiere in the reconstructed cinema was. You bet – „Cinema World“.

From one of the respondents was the cinema theaters in Ocova Enlightenment, which was close for over a year and a few months. Village Očová also thanks to the film digitization WORLD CINEMA intimidation factor, so 8 March 2014 opened the gates of the new digitized cinema Ocova (one of the first three digitized rural cinemas in Slovakia). Residents of the village can not travel to the theater in the Zvolen, Banska Bystrica or Detvy, but you can see the movie news in the village. A film which was screen in a restored cinema first? Why, WORLD CINEMA.

On March the 1st we screened timelapsed documentary film by Alzbeta Harry Gavendova (TRAKT) about her native village Opatova. She took part on local events during the last 6 years together with her camcorder and she made documentation and records. This year Alzbeta edited all her material and 75-minute film was born. This documentary shows traditions, which are held in Opatova during all the year and the author guides us through the original tradition since spring till winter. It begins with Carnival, continues through Easter traditions, but we saw also Feast, local volunteer´s fire club, local football club and everything is finished by Christmas carrols in the village. During the documentary you can also listen to the stories of old residents, who speak about their childhood and other antient stuff. “It is important to remember, where we come from – even if our steps direct far behind the broad of Opatova…”, tells at the very end of the film Alzbeta. The screening was led by Lukas Matejka (TRAKT) and Stefan Olis (TRAKT), as the technical support.

After the screeening, there was a little after party, where the local brass-band and accordeonists played some songs, people were eating traditional food and some of them also sang

As part of an international project Hopes and Memories, in which TRAKT represents one of the five partner organizations, our visual team will be participate for two years on a common formation of multidisciplinary of artwork that is based on prohibited opera “The Barrier” composed by Jan Meyerowitz in, 1949.

The first common creative step was 10-day residence in the South Africa in Durban. TRAKT via Michaela Bottková participated in the development of international cooperation and also trained students of Drama department at Durban University of Technology – for two days by intensive workshops.

The workshop program was divided into several subject fields as new media, scenic design, video and film, dance and choreography and physical theatre. Under our leadership, together with the multi-talented African students were created a very brave and interesting works which will expand by other common projects in next year.

Our action in Durban University much-admired Institution itself and wrote about our activities HERE.

Visual artists during they stay for several days had an opportunity to discover and share African and European influences. They stopped in and paid a visit to many villages and townships, where they absorbed a local culture and traditions of Zulus. During a number of visits a KwaMashu township, artists were involved in the educational system in local areas, schools and courses of dance. Through the work of our Hungarian choreographer partner, young Durban and Kwamashu dancers got a short daily dance training in physical theater and contemporary dance, which offered them a totally different approach to dancing. And as a repay he learned from them some local dance motion and folklore steps which are usually performed in the rain boots.

In addition team had the opportunity to lead workshops in various “godforsaken” areas, but which are locals using as their classes and studios. Artistic centres such as KwaMashu theatre and BAT Centre in Durban just confirmed to us the obvious fact, about how many talented and capable artists in this country is waiting to be found.

One thing is lucid; our residence in South Africa has revealed to us many secrets of this world, which will be very helpful in the formation of our overall project.

The cinema in Považska Bystrica had been operating for more than 50 years. Causing by new technology on digital screening, it was closed in 2012 and people from the town have to travel to cities around there. Moreover, some other cultural institutions in the town have been closed recently. Thanks to these circumstances, people of Povazska Bystrica started to take care for culture production by themselves, creating new associations. One of those is new film club FILMS IN ATELIER, created on April 15, 2013 in renovated building of school of arts. Tatiana Haviarová and Marek Janičík of TRAKT are authors of project concept and dramaturgy.

We are very pleased that the festival takes place again after directly in the yard, which received a new facade. Festival Dokoran thus boasts one of the most beautiful festival environment which can be found in the Czech Republic. There’s no airport, where asphalt is boiled, no cinemas and old football stadiums. Dokoran would welcome you in a beautiful park scene just by the water, while the city center is only a few minutes away. The festival will introduce foreign bands from Great Britain, Austria, Hungary, Poland or Slovakia.

Even well-known Czech artists and bands which are still famous gain new fans thanks to this festival. Initiation of people involved in Dokoran festival improves the cultural environment in Karvina region. Our goal is one thing – we will make your summer days.
