Fulla’s works are leaving their home after decades – the Ľudovít Fulla Gallery and Ružomberok. The current unsatisfactory state of disrepair of the gallery building does not allow for the further display of originals of incalculable value. The consequence is that Fulla will leave his own gallery until a major reconstruction is carried out.

The site-specific performance, which is a combination of dance, theatre, music and lighting design, brings a symbolic, unique and unrepeatable farewell to the work of Ľ. Fulla. Interactive forms and a vjing projection will take place in both the outdoor and indoor spaces of the GĽF.

Concept: Radoslav Piovarči, Andrea Kapráliková / Interpreters: Giorgia Belotti, Lucia Bielik, Paulína Šmatláková, Michaela Šeligová, Radoslav Piovarči / Music: Andrej Jurkovič / Lighting design: Ján Čief / Costumes: Gabriela Čechová / Projection: Lukáš Matejka in collaboration with Viktor Vilkovský, Martina Matejková and Robert Roth (audio)

19 February 2022 / 18:00 Ľudovít Fulla Gallery / Admission: 3 €, students, seniors, disabled: 2 €

“On a global scale, climate change is going to have radical ecological, social, economic and political impact which will also affect our country in a dramatical way. If we want the consequences to be less impactful, we must reduce our greenhouse gas emissions in the next decades.”

Videoart/mapping projections entitled KL!KR! (CL!CR!, translator´s note) react to and work with the theme of climate change. Each one of us imagines something different under the notion of climate crisis. Art research carried out by Mgr. art. Lukáš Matejka, ArtD. and a team of contemporary artists relies on collecting oral-personal interpretations of the climate crisis from a wider spectrum of people (children, youth, adults, pensioners) also reaching out to different social classes. These “notes” define some kind of a subject matter or sub-themes for the micro artworks of the project.

Following this is searching for locations which define the places for the implementation of projections intervening in the public space. The new map (Trenčín and surroundings) shows locations where the three time-limited site-specific performances will take place for 3 nights. In total, the project will introduce 9 independent visual artworks to the public. Each artwork will be documented in detail followed by postprocess/ post-production.

The final stages are defined by a thorough selection of presentable photographs for an exhibition in a gallery space. Following the exhibition is a creation of an expanded online concept – in text (professional text) and in picture (photographs, photo documentation, video) on a website.

“The project follows and processes various local and personal views/ attitudes/ understandings/ misunderstandings/ conspiracies into artworks within an important global issue.”

The realization of the project was funded from public resources in the form of a scholarship by the Slovak Arts Council. The implementation of the project was financially supported by the city of Trenčín – youth program. More information will be added.

Translation: Karin Mikossiová

Lukas Matejka (TRAKT), Tomas Zizka (Mamapapa) and Agnieszka Ćwieląg attended residency in Wroclaw. Artists were participating and Avant Art Festival, and by night walked to the foot all locations and discovered as much local characteristics as was possible. They later prepared beamvertising projection with the motive of Jan Meyerowitz. Due to the composer was born in Breslau and nobody there known about them, visual team made him alive and screened him as a ghost – walking along the facades of the buildings, especially in the fourth Olbin. This variable projection interested a lot of local bystanders and onlookers. Visual team was supplemented by 3 Polish colleagues, involved by Agnieszka Ćwieląg.

We decided to organize project Digital City because of the need to bring the trends of contemporary fine art among young people in Trencin. This idea is also identic with the main goal of Ofca platform. Ofca should cover similar activities. The intention of Ofca is to zoom high art to laic audience and to show him, that the art is also fun and it is possible to percept it in an easy way.

The conception of project is made from two main issues. “Interactive game”, which is projected on three stations at predetermined time and the second issue “beamvertising” – it is movable projection made from a moving car. First station was at Zilina Street in Trencin / Sihot. There was also the beginning of whole project on 13.9.2013 at 19:00. Then the project continued by beamvertising across the streets of suburban and there were motives like birds, train, walking chicken projected from the car. Another station was Peace Square. The next day began projection on the housing estate Juh at Kijevska Street. It attracted many children, young people, but also elders. After beamvertising continued in Dubnica nad Vahom, where was the end of project around midnight.

Despite the fact that the project was realised without any great publicity, it attracted many people. The target group of youth literally fulfilled the expectations and joined the program. To hold the steering wheel in your hand and to drive a car on a big projection at the wall of apartment block – it does not come every day! Everybody, who held the steering wheel for a while felt the adrenaline from the ride. The intention was to make young generation to recognize the forms of unconventional forms of arts and accepted them as an alternative to pop culture and consumerism. And this intention was fulfilled. It set the place for other similar projects, which should build on the Digital City.

The organisation of this project was covered by Stefan Olis and Lukas Matejka. They are also founders of the Ofca idea and they integrated to this project very clever, fresh graduates of SUS Trencin Pavel Soukal and Adam Siekel, who created the beamvertising visuals and Pavol Soukal creaeted also interactive game, which was projected at individual stations. The documentation was covered by the members of project and Denis Matus. Slovak press agency TASR and television were also interested in and television also made interview with us about the project.

Project Digital City brought new wave of unexpected experiences – for public it was number of positive responses and gradually began to uncover the brand Ofca. On the other hand, the great cooperation of TRAKT´s members with young people who have the potential was proved. The project was supported financially by Trencin and Foundation O2.
