The international project Park CAMP 9 creates space and suitable conditions for students, recent graduates and teachers of art colleges in Slovakia and abroad to improve and progress in the field of contemporary art – intermedia and interdisciplinary overlaps in the form of educational activities – workshops. The final output of the wokshops are visual works – interventions created for the specific environment of the city park in Trebišov (site-specific art) and the final exhibition focused this year on interactive art forms, in the environment of the park, where the participants work with the strategies of site-specific art, performance, public art, conceptual art and art of new media – technology.

The exhibition featured Lukáš Matejka / TRAKT (tech. collaboration Alžbeta Bobulová), with the work Home X. Home – Time – Humanity – Technology – Space. Using digital video mapping, the author contrasts the dwelling of the past (the ruins of Parič Castle) and the possible home of the future (the universe).

During the theoretical phase of the workshop, the participants improved their technical, technological and software skills while learning about current trends in the art field. During the practical phase, in cooperation with expert lecturers, they used the acquired experience directly in the field of the park. The educational laboratory provided direct experience with the realization of the work and confrontation with the viewer, where the participants gained new creative impulses, experience and knowledge in the field of contemporary visual art. The event included an accompanying activity GEO-Caching, an interactive game based on GPS coordinates designed for parents with children.

FRIDAY 26/8/2022 – FINISSAGE

18:00 Opening of the accompanying exhibition.

19:00 Opening of the exhibition PARK CAMP 9 and guided tour of the park with curator Miroslav Nicza

21:00 MAPPING to Parič Castle: Lukáš Matejka and TRAKT o.z.

22:00 Musical solitaire – Raptor Koch – Koniareň

23:30 End of the event and de-installation of works in the exterior of the park

The eighth year of the summer workshop Park CAMP focuses on participatory and interactive art, art in the public space of the city park in Trebišov (in cooperation with the Koniareň gallery – space for contemporary art – koniarengallery.com). The aim of the event is to create a professional-educational space for students, graduates and teachers at art colleges in Slovakia and abroad. The aim of the project is gaining new knowledge and experience in the field of contemporary art, intermedia art and interdisciplinary overlaps. The project which was created for the city park in Trebišov and the KONIAREŇ cultural space focuses on the interaction with the spectator via social interventions within natural environment of the park where participants can, aside from participatory an interactive art, work with site-specific art, performance, sound art, public art, conceptual art and new media-technologies art strategies. Apart from the theoretical phase of the workshop, participants can be a part of the practical phase where they can create visual and acoustic arts – interventions into the natural environment of the park, together with professional lecturers (Miroslav Nicz and Peter Valiska-Timečko). The goal is to create such works of art, with which participants will try out the work right on the field in confrontation with the audience. The intention is to react to the specific park environment (site-specific art) or to thematically respond to the direct relationship between the city and natural environment (public – private, natural vs. technological, online – offline).

Koniareň is an independent cultural space (former riding hall) located on the premises of the museum and the cultural center of south Zemplín in Trebišov. It is a connection of an art lab, a cultural institution, a community space and a group of activists. The space is situated on the premises of a manor house in one of the biggest forest parks in the Central Europe.

Gardens, fountains, a pond and other natural landmarks are part of the park. There, the visitors can find the Mausoleum of Count Július Andrássy, an amphitheater, the Parič castle ruins, wine cellars, a French garden and various recreational zones. The final exhibition in the Koniareň gallery under the theme INTER-ACTION is part of the event including a guided tour on the marked trail with visual interventions in the city park. Associate professor, a conceptual and multimedia artist and a university lecturer Miroslav Nicz with a degree in painting will be the curator and the lecturer of the event. The workshop will provide a direct experience and confrontation of the author with the public.

The Park CAMP workshop is the sixth edition currently focusing on Landart & Videoart. The project from the workshop Koniareň / space for contemporary art / will bring art in public space to the city park in Trebišov in cooperation with the Museum and Cultural Center of Southern Zemplín in Trebišov.

The aim of the project is to create space and suitable conditions for students and fresh graduates of art universities in Slovakia (VŠVU in Bratislava, AU in Banská Bystrica, TU FU in Košice) for the purpose of improvement and progress in the field of contemporary art, new media and media. The project aims to bring the cultural center closer to the natural environment of the Trebišov park in the form of social interventions, where participants, in addition to land art & video art, can work with strategies of site-specific art, performance, sound art, public art, conceptual art and new media.

An important aspect of the event will be the final presentation of the project in the gallery Koniareň and directly in the city park in Trebišov, where during the weekend the city park will come alive thanks to the created works of individual participating artists. Within the project Lukáš Matejka (TRAKT) will present himself with a new videoart – video mapping directly on the facade of the manor house in Trebišov.

Park camp is a project taking place in Trebišov’s park from 18th to 23rd of July 2016 organised by members of „OZ KONTEXT“ Peter Valiska -Timečko and Branislav Zurko. The role of the lecturers was taken by Lukáš Matejka and Štefan Oliš from „TRAKT“ and their external colleague Ján Ančic took. The target group of Park camp 3 were students of art universities. The project was focused on video and sound art. The aim was a creation of pieces of art responding to the park ambiance – site-specific art. They tried to reflect the relation between urban and natural environment (public-private, organic-inorganic, natural – industrial). Many students of Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, Banska Bystrica and Košice participated on the project. The organisers prepared a kind of „educational laboratory“ to provide students with new creative stimuli and knowledge of actual and progressive art. They had an opportunity to learn new creative methods through experimenting.

There was a field trip of the old city center guided by M. Urban, Slovak wine tasting and several educative presentations e.g. Koniareň platform, sound technologies by J. Ančič, art projects by L.Matejka and Š.Oliš, history of intermedial projects in Slovakia by M.Murin, students work exhibition, Maroš Kontroš’s vernissage and Milan Ladyk’s performance. The highlight was a night tour intended for the general public guided by curator Michal Murin.

The park came alive with young authors’ pieces of art: Ján Krška‘s „Mausoleum video mapping Realitta“ reflecting current political and social situation, FIlip Kmeť’s sound installation „Dutiny“ and interactive installation „Ostrov“, Matúš Gavorník’s sound installation „Enter the Wild„ expressing the difference between artificially created green zones in urban areas and wild nature, which was paradoxically depicted by movement of little electric machines, Martin Hreha’s sound installation, Martin Koniar’s dance performance „Trebishow+“ in which the dribbling performer with lights attached to his body accompanied with musical composition presented a kind of modern ritual. The performer was interacting with the audience by passing the ball to them.

Matej Ivan’s audiovisual experiment creating a dialogue took place in the park as well. It was based on site specific connection of the dog shelter, fox coursing, which are supposed to start again in the park, game hunting and animal protection exhibitions. Jana Mikleová’s installation “Pólo“ referred to a historical polo match.

„Nová Koniareň“ is an independent cultural centre in Trebišov. It merges a cultural laboratory, cultural institution and collective of activists. There are ateliers in Trebišov castle situated in one of the biggest forest parks in Slovakia. The park has many gardens, fountains, lakes and cyclopaths. There is also the Július Andrássy’s Mausoleum, ruins of Parič’s castle, wine taverns, a French garden and several recreation zones.

Members TRAKT Lukas Matejka and Stefan Oliš participated in Trebišov – Park Camp, organized by OZ Kontext (Peter Valiska-Timečko and Branislav Zurko), as a free continuation of the project from 2014 Light camp. Park Camp was held July 27-August 1 2015. The workshop was again focused on light as a medium and location Trebišov City Park. Works were mainly focused on the performative, visual and intermedia art in public spaces. The main lecturer of the workshop was Tomas Moravek (Institute of Light Design Prague), experienced lighting designer, who works in the Prague area – mainly in theater and dance performances. Participants thus had a unique opportunity to look at working with light slightly differently and try to combine elements of theater and contemporary art.

Within a block trio of lectures for the general public (Moravek, Matejka, Zurko), Lukas Matejka presented his authorship of following the project of the civic association tract. In addition to a series of lectures and presentations portfolios of the participating artists (Lukas Matejka, Stefan Oliš, Petra Klepcová, Stanislav Piatrik, Katarina Hudačinová, Martin Zlievský, Brigita Bialová, Katarina Tribulová, Robert Suchy) were given the opportunity to become familiar with lighting in practice, but also exercise the Norwegian GEPARK who are experienced its nationwide debut. Workshop in Trebišov second year starts a promising tradition of site – specific Scan “camp”, where artists have the opportunity to create an amazing atmosphere in the park under the leadership of interesting lecturers. It offers the possibility of cooperation as well as in future editions, or partnership in other projects.

Interventions 2014 event is cyclical, annual improvements examination fine art interventions in the public space, of which the first edition was held in 2012. The event takes place in the streets, squares, parks or other public places in Trebišov. Professional artists make up for a week at selected locations around site-specific interventions and works to revitalize public spaces, pointed to problems associated with public space, temporarily altered and awakened existing works of art and to enrich the empty spaces of the artistic value of content. “The primary objective of the event, but it is aestheticism or beautify the urban space. Art and art creation is more or less tool for examining the nature of public space, the quality, specifications, conditions and possibilities. To some extent it is a project of civic activism, usurpation the right to occupy public space to which we are all indisputable claim. Interventions in 2014 are thus something like art laboratory which should provide space for the free formation, in his concept of resolving the specific problems of the city, the relationship public-private spaces, standing artefacts in the public space, the use of public space inhabitants, their habits in relation to public areas, buildings, or anything you can think of in connection art and public space, “stated curator and one of the organizers Branislav Zurko.

The theme of this symposium is empty – void. “The city is too many empty spaces which could and should serve some for life in the city of useful features at least could carry some cultural and artistic value, so that affected the residents and users of urban space, or even not because of For some reason really good for nothing else but to remain overgrown and neglected. Intervention but want to find out! “Said another organizer Peter Valiska-Timečko.
